Here’s the breaking news – You can buy authentic diamond earrings for women that are affordable.  Several jewellery merchants stock these ornaments which are not always on display. Never shy away from asking for jewellery in your budget, even if it involves precious jewels and metals.

N. Goapaldas jewellers are the pioneers of South Indian jewellery in India. They have a collection of beautiful diamond earrings that are quite affordable.

So next time you want to buy a precious gift for someone you love or for yourself, consider simple diamond earrings. With a good knowledge of diamonds, you can get gorgeous diamond stud earrings within your budget.

Before you begin your quest for the perfect diamond earrings for women, read up on how to identify real diamonds from fakes ones: https://ngopaldasjewellers.wordpress.com/2013/06/03/how-to-buy-an-engagement-ring/

Once you have your basics clear, you can compromise a little on some of the aspects:

Solitaires almost always cost higher than jewellery with cut diamonds. Opt for those.

Cut is one of the first things we check when buying diamonds, the better the cut, more is the brilliance of the diamond. Since you’re picking up earrings, you can compromise a little on the cut and generally get away with ‘good’ cut as against an ideal or premium cut. Make sure you don’t go any lower than that as a bad cut cannot be made up with clarity and color. Choose wisely.

Clarity is very important when buying diamonds. The best quality diamonds rank F for flawless and IF for internally flawless. However, if you have a tight budget, you can opt for SI11 or SI12 these stand for slightly included, which is still considered quite good. You won’t be able to spot any flaws through naked eye.

Even when you’re buying budget diamond earrings, there’s no reason to compromise on the genuineness of the gem. Always insist on authentication certificates while buying diamond jewellery.

There are several jewellery merchants who will help you find exclusive diamond earrings that fit your budget.

Do not buy silver jewellery without reading this article!

Silver jewellery image

Silver jewellery is probably the only jewellery in which we invest without thinking too much. It’s not too expensive; it’s fashionable and easily available.

This is also the reason we often get cheated on our silver jewellery.

Before we tell you how to buy authentic silver jewellery, let’s take a look at the different types of silver available in the market:

Pure Silver is quite soft and malleable, while it’s good for making smaller pieces of jewellery it’s not used very often as the ornaments tend to bend with time.

Alloys of silver are often used to make jewellery. Sterling Silver is the best type of silver for making jewellery. True sterling silver is composed of 92.5 percent silver and 7.5 percent copper. Copper is used to strengthen the metal. Other type of silver includes Brittania silver which has 95.8% silver and Mexican silver that has about 95% silver. Any authentic silver that you buy will normally have one of these hallmarks.

Many jewellers sell what is known as Alpaca silver or Silverstone. Beware! This is fake silver made of different metals and is used to make costume jewellery. If you want genuine silver, avoid buying these metals.

  1.  When buying silver jewellery, always look for the 3 digit number. All genuine jewellery pieces will have 925 mentioned (for sterling silver, the most commonly used metal)
  2. Check the color of the jewellery – higher the quality of silver, whiter will be its color. More grayish color may indicate the presence of lead which is poisonous for human beings. Real sterling silver will have a uniform luster which is absent from the fake ones.
  3. Notice the sound it makes when gently clashed with other pieces. If you can make out a soft tinkling sound then it means your jewellery is pure. More the impurities more the sound becomes dull and thuds.
  4. Rub the jewellery using a soft white cloth. If there are black marks on the cloth, then the jewelry is a real sterling silver. The reason for this is that real silver oxidizes with air exposure. That is why silver jewelries tarnish in time
  5. Just like gold and platinum, Silver is not attracted to magnets. You can test of your jewellery is made of real silver by bringing a magnet close to it.

So next time you are looking to buy some silver jewellery run it past these 5 tests to see if it’s your money’s worth. If you don’t want to go through all the trouble than simply pick your jewellery from authentic sellers who only use the best and purest metals for their Jewellery. For example, N. Gopaldas Jewellers have a large collection of silver jewellery and silverware that you can choose from.
